Chapter Seven

Aiden

After I’d left her on the bus, I’d found my way back to the tent. Jude had sat me on a barstool and fed me a few shots to calm myself. I chatted with some of the other bands, and we spent the better part of an hour tossing back the free drinks that were offered. The alcohol in my system hadn’t dulled my need for her, either.

In fact, it had heightened it.

I slammed the shot glass down on the bar top and made a swirling motion with my finger, telling the bartender to bring me another. The buzz in my veins just wasn’t where I wanted it to be. Kit was in my mind’s eye, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d fucked up with her.

I should’ve never ran out on her.

I should’ve stayed there and claimed her.

Seeing that guy from Flix touching Kit had every protective instinct inside me wanting to mark her like a wild animal. She was driving me insane with lust. Now, I was just pissed at myself.

As soon as the drink was placed in front of me, my eyes roamed the area. I needed to find Kit. This was going to end now. My feet hit the ground, and I turned for the exit. I searched the food tent first, but she was nowhere to be found. Jude and Kade were out by the trailer, helping our crew load up the equipment. “Have you seen Kit?”

“No.” Jude frowned. “I thought she was with you.”

“She wasn’t on the bus?” Kade asked, setting a guitar case on the ground.

“I haven’t looked there yet,” I replied.

“Check with Steven,” Jude suggested, handing off a tote of merchandise. “If you need us, we will start looking for her.”

“I’ll check the tents and the bus,” I said, leaving my bandmates to finish loading up.

I looped off around the buses and searched the entire backstage area, even asking the guys from Flix if they’d seen her. Will offered to help me, but I didn’t want him anywhere near her. She was mine.

My heart thundered in my chest as I stepped on the bus and she wasn’t sitting on the couch. She was nowhere to be found. As I pulled the curtain back on her bunk, I cursed again. Her bag was missing and there wasn’t a note. Her bass was still in the back of the bus, so I knew she hadn’t left us by flying out of town. “Where the fuck is she?”

“She left about an hour ago,” Steven announced as he climbed on the bus.

“What?” My voice hardened as I marched toward our tour manager. “Where is she?”

“She texted me out of the blue. Said she was going to hit The Strip and would be back before it was time to leave.” He held up his phone for me to see the message.

I’m heading to The Strip for some alone time. I’ll be back before the wheels turn on the bus.

I didn’t say anything as I pushed past him.
